I try to avoid politics in my newsletter, which is difficult because I am very passionate about many issues. But the ending of DACA is very personal to me and I can’t help but say something — President Trump and Jeff Session’s decision to end protection for the Dreamers was very disappointing. I grew up with several undocumented young people who were brought here illegally by their families when they were very young. Many are college graduates, journalism professionals and incredibly talented and impressive individuals. To deport these people who have spent their entire lives in the U.S. is both viciously cruel and savagely pointless. It breaks my heart. I hope that Congress comes up with a solution to find amnesty for these innocent young people. If Trump is willing to pardon a racist bully like Joe Arpaio, he should consider showing mercy to hundreds of thousands of people who have made positive contributions to our great country and helped make America great.
