I love Chris Cornell. I’ve been a big fan of Soundgarden and Audioslave and I’ve seen him in concert so many times, including his last reunion tour with Temple of the Dog. Chris was one of the best rock vocalists of all time and is one of only a few people who was able to reinvent himself and his sound as music changed from one decade to the next.
If you listen to his music, his lyrics are depressing and obsessed with death. He references suicide often and kind of builds these songs around really dark premises that suddenly take on a new meaning in light of his death.
I feel horrible for his poor family — I can’t imagine what they must be going through. To be honest, none of it makes any sense to me and it’s not the way I want to remember a musician who has brought me so much joy over many, many years. Instead, I’m just gonna play one of my favorite Soundgarden songs in honor of Chris, something I can share with all of you below.
Have a nice weekend everyone.
