Saturday’s news of the passing of APA Managing Partner Troy Blakely was a shock to many in the music industry. On Tuesday, Troy’s wife Kelly Blakely released the following statement to the media with a few new details about the flu-induced pneumonia that took his life.

I am heartbroken to announce the death of my husband, best friend and rock music legend, Troy Blakely. Troy was a beloved icon in the rock music community who was known for his tenacity and loyalty as Managing Partner and Head of Music at Agency for the Performing Arts (APA). After courageously beating cancer twice, once in 1994 and once in 2016, and being declared totally cancer-free since 2016, Troy was stricken with pneumonia during this horrific flu season. He succumbed to pneumonia on Saturday night. We are devastated by the loss and are asking for privacy as we, along with his many friends and clients, grieve the loss of Troy. Per Troy’s wishes, his funeral services were private, and there will be a memorial planned for a later date.
