It has been a rough week so far for the music industry. As the news unfolded about the tragedy in Las Vegas, word also spread that legendary singer Tom Petty passed away. In the days following his passing, the industry has done its best to pay tribute to the musician who brought joy to generations of music lovers. John Mayer, Norah Jones, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and many more have paid tribute to Petty, while Coldplay kicked off their show Monday (Oct. 2) night at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon with a cover of “Free Fallin.” Check out the touching rendition from the British band and R.E.M’s Peter Buck here.
