According to a Deezer-commissioned survey, a majority of people stop discovering new music by roughly the age of 30. While a majority of 30+ year-olds surveyed said they wanted the ability to seek out more new music, they blamed being overwhelmed by choice, their workload, and children for the lack of time. The peak age on average for discovering new music is around 24 years-old, but falls slighter earlier for women (23 years-old) and older for the Scotts (40 years-old). A 60% majority of people said they felt like they had ‘music paralysis,’ only listening to songs and artists they already knew.
