Chicago-based Consequence of Sound and the Obama Foundation have teamed up to create a playlist highlighting tracks by artists performing at Lollapalooza this weekend. The idea is to pay homage to the city’s artistic community and celebrate the future opening of the Obama Presidential Library. The playlist includes songs from The xx, Cage the Elephant, Lorde, Noname, Kweku Collins and Chicago native Chance the Rapper. “We sought songs that played into the ethos of Chicago, empowerment and civic engagement,” said Alex Young, CoS’s founder and publisher. To check out the playlist and read track-by-track liner notes, visit the Obama Foundation. The $500 million Obama Presidential Library is reportedly scheduled to open in 2021. Lollapalooza Chicago at Grant Park began Thursday and runs through Sunday.
