L.A. Live and Staples Center celebrated retired basketball star Kobe Bryant on Tuesday, with a free amusement-park style street fair prior to the Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors game, during which Bryant’s No. 8 and No. 24 Lakers jerseys became the historic franchise’s 11th and 12th numbers to be retired and permanently displayed in the rafters of the downtown arena. AEG reports selling over $800,000 in merchandise throughout the day, capping off a busy five-day run that also included three Disney on Ice shows at Staples Center for 19,000 fans, a concert by Iranian singer Moshen Yeganeh at Microsoft Theater, a punk show at The Novo by MxPx, the LA Kings Holiday Ice at L.A. LIVE which brought more than 2,100 skaters on Saturday and the premiere of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” at Regal L.A. LIVE: A Barco Innovation Center.
