Billboard is exclusively reporting that Dave Grohl and company will open Seth Hurwitz’s new venue in D.C.
“The new place is set to become the number one venue in America, I shit you not,” Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl enthusiastically told Billboard after touring the site. “It has the illusion of a stadium, but the intimacy of a nightclub. It’s perfect.”
The $60 million Anthem will open Oct. 12 as part of the The Wharf, a new multi-billion dollar development complex off the Potomac River. The Anthem will be operated by Seth Hurwitz’s I.M.P., the D.C.-based independent promotions company which has a 30-year lease on the new property and also owns the city’s storied 9:30 Club.
