Today I’m excited to announce that I have accepted a position with the world’s largest music brand.

On Feb. 21, I will become the Senior Correspondent for Touring & Live Entertainment at Billboard. I will be assigned to Billboard’s LA office and work to develop content and news stories for Billboard’s magazine and website, and I will be responsible for programming the annual Billboard Touring Conference. I’m excited about the opportunity to work with Billboard’s incredibly talented team and align with the other Prometheus Global Media brands like The Hollywood Reporter and recently acquired media properties that include Spin, Vibe and Stereogum.

This doesn’t mean I’m shutting down Amplify — in fact, I believe the company’s best years are ahead. I will continue to operate Amplify as its CEO and Editor-in-Chief and work with my staff out of our Long Beach office, just a few blocks from the home I share with my beautiful wife Kristen, my newborn son Wesley and my best friend Bandit.

Amplify will no longer be Powered by Pollstar— we’ll now be 100% independent. It’s been an incredible journey with my friends in Fresno and the mentorship and guidance of Pollstar’s Gary Smith and Gary Bongiovanni, both of whom have always had my back (and helped me find my mogul).

It’s an exciting time to own a media business and I believe that accurate, timely information will only become more valuable over time, especially for individuals looking for an edge in this hyper-competitive landscape. In the coming weeks and months, Amplify will be announcing a number of new hires, investments and strategic partnerships that will allow us to grow and continue providing breaking news and analysis to our 1,000+ members.

I have no doubt that my new position at Billboard and this new alliance with Amplify will allow me to boost my readership and tackle the big, complex stories in the music industry that must be told. As a writer, it’s the perfect arrangement — I have the pleasure of continuing to build my own brand and writing style at ampthemag.com while contributing to the biggest music news site in the media space.

Thanks to everyone who has supported me on this two-and-a-half-year journey, especially our 1,000+ paid members who financially support Amplify’s editorial mission. I promise I will continue to work tirelessly to break big stories, write entertaining articles and provide you with information that helps you navigate the music business. I am grateful for your continued support and more than ever, I will need your help to continue to track down news stories and program the Billboard conference. Together, we will continue to cover this incredible industry and share the gift of live music with the rest of the world.
