Southern California rock band The Growlers have announced that the inaugural Growlers Six Festival is headed for the LA Waterfront in San Pedro. The lineup is packed with an impressive list of rock bands.
The Growlers Six will take place from Oct. 28-29 with headlining performances from the band as well as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach, Modest Mouse, The B-52s and Jenny Lewis’s supergroup Nice as Fuck. The lineup also includes Bad Brains, Butthole Surfers, Guided By Voices, Danny Brown, former Crystal Castles singer Alice Glass, ex-Dirty Projectors member Amber Coffman and Beach Fossils.
The announcement of the two-day festival follows The Growlers leaving behind their five-year association with SoCal festival Beach Goth. The name Growlers Six appears to make reference to this being the sixth festival the group has thrown, but now under a different name. Last year the festival’s venue, Santa Ana’s The Observatory, sued The Growlers for copyright infringement after Beach Goth faced a disastrous year with an oversold crowd and heavy rain. The Observatory is suing The Growlers over the name Beach Goth, which the band had been using since 2006. The venue, however, had been putting on and promoting The Growlers headlined Beach Goth festival since 2012.
Tickets for Growlers Six go on sale Aug. 11 at 10 a.m. PST. Head to The Growlers website for more details.
