NOFX’s Fat Mike has announced the launch of a new punk and craft beer festival slated to hit the West Coast this fall. The five-stop Punk in Drublic festival, named after the band’s 1994 album, will feature a rotating list of punk headliners as well as signature beers.
Alternating co-headliners will include NOFX, Bad Religion, and Flogging Molly with an additional four performers per show. Full details on the additional bands will be released in August.
The touring festival will begin on Sept. 16 in Tacoma, Washington at America’s Car Museum and continue through Boise, Idaho. Punk in Drublic will then head to California to play Concord in the Bay Area, Sacramento, and close out in Huntington Beach on Oct. 28.
The events, being co-producer by promoter Synergy Global Entertainment and craft beer event production powerhouse Brew Ha Ha Productions, will also feature up to four hours of craft beer tastings of over 100 choices. Beer tastings are included with the price of admission and will mainly focus on west coast breweries.
Fat Mike has also teamed up with Southern California’s Stone Brewing for a special Punk in Drublic Hoppy Lager. The collaboration will mark the first time Stone has worked with a musician for a can release and the craft beer will only be available in the festival markets. This is a first-of-its-kind level of commitment from a brewery partner for a festival tour.
“We know we’re crazy for letting Fat Mike in our brewery, but we’re doing it anyway,” says Greg Koch, Stone Brewing co-founder in a release. “We have a lot in common in not only refusing to follow the status quo, but actively rejecting it. I have incredible respect for what he and Fat Wreck Chords have done for the independent music scene. Craft beer is currently in a similar open-your-eyes-to-the-man’s-
“Craft beer and punk rock are cut from the same cloth. Small, independent, and up against some big challenges: taking on BIG BEER, and local bands determined to do it their way, despite what might make them a quick buck. Punk In Drublic throws off the mantle of the ordinary to create an event unlike any other…a perfect pairing of craft beer and punk rock!” said Cameron Collins, Co-Founder & Director of Events at Brew Ha Ha Productions in a release.
The Saturday, Sept. 16 (Tacoma) and Sunday, Sept. 17 (Boise) Punk In Drublic shows will feature performances from NOFX, Bad Religion, Goldfinger, Less Than Jake, Bad Cop / Bad Cop and more. Tickets for these two shows go on sale Friday (July 28) at 10:00 AM local time at PunkInDrublicFest.com. Ticket details for other dates will be announced in August. All tickets include craft beer tasting and access to view the music stage for attendees 21 years or older.
