The 2017 lineup for Riot Fest was announced today and its a good one. The Sept. 15-17 festival in Chicago will feature headliners Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Stone Age, and iconic 80s punk band Jawbreaker.
Jawbreaker has not played together since 1996, making Riot Fest’s 13th iteration the band’s first performance in 21 years. The band, highly influential on the 90s emo scene, told Pitchfork that the Riot Fest gig will be a one-off exclusive.
The first wave lineup for the festival also includes New Order, Paramore, Prophets of Rage, and A Day to Remember for avid rock fans. Also at the top of the bill are M.I.A., Wu-Tang Clan, and a DJ set from Beastie Boys’ Mike D.
The list of over 70 acts features Taking Back Sunday, TV on the Radio, Pennywise, New Found Glory, and Dinosaur Jr. The heavily punk lineup also includes iconic 70s Los Angeles band X and a 40th anniversary show by legendary hardcore group Bad Brains.
Organizers plan to announce at least an additional 25 acts for the Fall festival in the next month. In addition they will reveal select artists who will be performing their seminal album for the festival.
Tickets for Riot Fest 2017 go on sale today at Noon CDT through Ticketfly. VIP packages, including VIP, Deluxe VIP, and Ultimate VIP, will also be available for purchase starting today.
