SMG has announced it will manage North American sales for the new Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Centre in China.
“I couldn’t be more excited about celebrating with Shenzhen,” Gregg Caren, SMG’s Executive Vice President of Convention and Exhibition Centers said during a press conference last week at IMEX American in Las Vegas, the Trade Show News Network reported.
Shenzhen World – which is poised to become one of the largest exhibition and convention centers on the planet – is another step in SMG’s global expansion efforts. The venue management company lists San Francisco’s Moscone Center, Chicago’s McCormick Place and Toronto’s Enercare Centre among its network of 75 convention, exhibition and conference centers.
Shenzhen World is currently under construction, with the first phase set for completion in 2019. The size and design of the convention center boasts 4.3 million square feet of exhibition space and another 500,000 square feet of flexible convention and meeting space. Another one million square feet of exhibition space will be constructed at a later date, according to TSNN.
China’s trade show market is growing, so the timing is right, company officials said.
“We look forward to further international growth and success that reflects the unique combination of resources, relationships and expertise we have developed throughout our history,” Caren said.
Added Sun Chengming, Chairman of China Merchants Shekou Holdings (CMSK), which is spearheading the project with OCT Group: “We are excited to work with SMG to build Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center into a global venue benchmark.”
