SeatGeek has announced that they have hired primary ticketing veteran Doug Lyons as Executive Vice President of Client Services. In his new position, Lyons will assist the company as they grow their presence as a ticketing industry leader, especially in primary ticketing with their SeatGeek Open platform.
“Doug is the most knowledgeable primary ticketing person I’ve ever met, and I knew very early on that his experience, detailed understanding of and passion for live event ticketing would be powerful and essential for our success in expanding our business in new ways,” said SeatGeek co-founder Russ D’Souza in a statement. “We are on a mission to move the ticketing space radically forward and Doug is equally committed to such revolutionary change – and has the skills to help us make it happen rapidly.”
D’Souza had hired Lyons as an advisor in the spring of 2016 and discovered that they shared a vision and passion for fundamental changes to how ticketing is handled.
“I thought I had worked for my last ticketing company,” Lyons said in a statement. “In a way I was right, because SeatGeek is not a traditional ticketing company. Prior to moving to SeatGeek, Lyons was providing strategic professional services through the company he co-founded, Neon Palm Tree, and in partnership with consulting firm Futuretix. He has played vital roles in many North American ticketing companies including Spectra and Ticketmaster. He has also served as Vice President at both Tickets.com and AEG-founded AXS.
