It’s time for some real talk guys — air travel sucks.
The crowds, the long lines and the crying kids and sneaky plane farters make air travel a mostly awful experience. I’d rather step on a rusty nail then board a cross-country flight on Southwest.
There is only one thing that has made travel slightly less worse — the TSA Pre-Check program. Anyone who travels frequently knows that signing up for the program is a necessity. The Department of Homeland Security program allows travelers to fly through security lines without having to take their shoes off, remove computers from their bags or deal with the other hassle related to traveling. It’s a lot faster than standing in line with all the plebeians.
Now the world’s largest concert promoter is looking to the TSA Pre program to speed up security for several festivals starting in 2017. Live Nation is teaming up with IdentoGO, the creators of the technology powering TSA Pre, to create a Fast Pass for TSA Pre members that allows them expedited entry into a number of festivals. Fans who bring a birth certificate or passport to the show can enroll in a five-year subscription for TSA Pre at the concert for $85.
Live Nation started offering on-site TSA Pre enrollment and expedited Fast Pass entry at last weekend’s Watershed Festival at the Gorge in Quincy, Washington and will also offer the service at Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival in Las Vegas and the Meadows Music & Arts Festival in New York. The company also plans to offer the service for select shows at the Gexa Energy Pavilion in Dallas, the Lakewood Amphitheatre in Atlanta, BB&T Pavilion in Camden, NJ, P.N.C. Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, N.J., the Perfect Vodka Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach and San Manuel Amphitheater in San Bernardino, Calif.
Individuals that are already enrolled in TSA Pre are automatically eligible for the Fast Pass by presenting their Known Traveler Number and ID to a check-in booth at the box office. Once their enrollment is confirmed, they’ll be given a wristband that’s good for the entire weekend.
Those already enrolled in TSA Pre✓® can simply stop by the Fast Pass by IdentoGO check-in booth at the festival box office to present their KTN (Known Traveler Number), along with a government issued ID, to receive a Fast Pass by IdentoGO wristband. The wristband is good for the entire weekend and allows attendees to sail past long entry lines and enter through a dedicated Fast Pass line.
