SCALPERS MUST FACE INFRINGEMENT SUIT FROM TICKETMASTER
Scalpers with Prestige Entertainment West Inc. and Renaissance Ventures cannot escape a suit from Ticketmaster accusing them of violating cybersecurity laws and copyright infringement for using bots to purchase large swaths of tickets and flipping them on the secondary market. U.S. District Court Judge Otis D. Wright II has ruled there was enough evidence to support the Ticketmaster’s claim of infringement by unnamed bot developers hurt the company and violated the ticketing company’s policies.
PUERTO RICAN ARTIST RESIDENTE ANNOUNCES U.S. TOUR
Puerto Rican artist René Pérez Joglar, also known as Residente, announced his first U.S. tour since the release of his solo album in 2017. The Puerto Rican rapper, composer, producer, co-founder, leader and vocalist of Calle 13, will hit the road on Aug. 28 at Buckhead Theatre in Atlanta and play Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago, and more. The 15-date tour will close out on Sept. 22 at Hulu Theatre at MSG in New York. Tickets go on sale Friday(June 8) at 10am local time through Live Nation.
RYAN NORTHCOTT JOINS BANC OF CALIFORNIA AS SVP OF BOOKING
Los Angeles’ Banc of California Stadium Entertainment has named Ryan Northcott Senior Vice President of Booking. Northcott will report to Adam Friedman, recently named President of BOCS Entertainment, and EVP of LAFC Sports, LLC, and be headquartered in BOCS Entertainment’s Downtown Los Angeles offices. In his new role, Northcott will focus on booking all concert and sports events at Banc of California Stadium, other than MLS matches of the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC). Northcott brings more than a decade of experience in the live entertainment industry, having most recently served as General Manager for Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif., on behalf of SMG Worldwide.
