CITIZENS BUSINESS BANK ARENA SEES 45% ATTENDANCE INCREASE
Since SMG took over the management of Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California, the venue has seen a 45 percent increase in attendance. SMG and the City of Ontario attribute the successful year to diverse, big-name performances, including sold-out shows from Def Leppard and Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. In May, SMG and the Los Angeles Clippers announced that a new development league team, the Agua Caliente Clippers, will move to Ontario. The NBA G League team will add to the entertainment options at Citizens Business Bank Arena and to the already busy arena calendar.
LOLLAPALOOZA EVACUATED DURING LORDE PERFORMANCE
Bad weather cut short the first day of Lollapalooza 2017 during a performance by Lorde, Billboard reports. “I’ll do everything I can, I’ll be back,” the singer told the crowd as storm clouds took over the skies at Grant Park. Fans, though, were told to evacuate: “The show will not continue. Follow instructions from the park and Chicago police,” a loudspeaker rang out. The downpour came to an end just before 10 p.m.
YONDER FIELD ANNOUNCES DRIVE-IN MOVIES
The new Yonder Field in Bowman, South Carolina has announced a partnership with Highway 21 Drive-In to host movies every Friday and Saturday evening. Beginning Aug. 18, “Movies Rock!” will play on one screen through September, when there will be three screens throughout the outdoor venue space. The scheduled films are currently in theaters. There also will be live music as well as games like cornhole and a giant Connect Four. Traditional movie snacks can be purchased at the Food Truck Village.
