CLIFFORD RIPPETOE NAMED IAVM’S 2ND VICE CHAIR

Clifford “Rip” Rippetoe has been named Second Vice Chair of the IAVM Board of Directors. Rippetoe will serve a four-year term, taking on the Chairman position in 2020-2021. Rippetoe currently serves as President and CEO of the San Diego Convention Center Corporation and has worked in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors of the venues industry. “The nomination of Rip Rippetoe, CVE, for the role of 2nd Vice Chair demonstrates the thoughtful and excellent work of the Board’s Leadership Development Committee to identify a candidate who is a trusted member volunteer, proven leader, and skilled venue professional for senior leadership,” stated Doug Booher, CVE, IAVM Board of Directors Chair in a release. “We look forward to welcoming Rip to the team!”

IKE RICHMAN TO BE INDUCTED INTO EAMC HALL OF FAME

The Event and Arena Marketing Conference has announced that industry veteran Ike Richman will be inducted into their Hall of Fame. Richman, President of Ike Richman Communications, was formerly the VP of Public Relations for Comcast Spectacor. Richman was elected by the EAMC Board of Directors and by past Hall of Fame and Gigi Award winners. The fourth annual EAMC Awards Luncheon will be held on June 14 with a formal induction at the conference in Las Vegas.


BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS WILL BROADCAST LIVE ON NBC

Dick Clark Productions and NBC announced today that the 2018 Billboard Music Awards will broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 20 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NBC. This will mark the first year the highly popular music awards show will air on the network. The three-hour telecast will feature this year’s hottest musical acts, biggest performances, unexpected collaborations and buzzworthy pop culture moments.
