CONVENTION CENTER GENERATES $781M FOR LOS ANGELES
In fiscal 2016/2017, the Los Angeles Convention Center generated a record-breaking $781 million in economic impact for the city. Managed by AEG Facilities, the convention center generated $478 million attributed to convention attendees’ direct spending, $26.4 million in tax revenues to the city, and $18.2 million in hotel transient-occupancy tax contributions to the city’s general fund, which is $90 million more than the previous year. The center also increased its occupancy rate to 74 percent.
LIVE NATION HIRES NEW COO OF MEDIA & SPONSORSHIP
Live Nation has named Chris Loll as its new COO of Media and Sponsorship Unit. Loll will lead all business operations while executing a multi-year strategy in the newly-created position. Based in New York, Loll will report to Global President Russell Wallach. “Chris has a proven track record reinvigorating corporate productivity and taking media and advertising businesses to new heights,” Wallach said in a statement.
ERIC CHURCH TO RELEASE 61 SONGS UNTIL DECEMBER
From Jan. 13 to May 27, Eric Church played 61 shows, and the country star is thanking his loyal fans (a.k.a. the Church Choir) with live recordings from his tour. Beginning Sept. 1, Church started releasing 30 live recordings from his latest tour that will be compiled into the “61 Days of Church” on Apple Music. The tracks will be followed by another 31 covers and catalogue songs along with ones inspired by his time on the road. The artwork will be tour posters from each stop and all the material will be available on all streaming sites two weeks after its release.
