FOX THEATRE INSTITUTE TO DONATE $500,000 TO GEORGIA VENUES
The Fox Theatre Institute has earmarked $500,000 in preservation grants for historic theaters in Georgia. Historic theaters and structures in the state of Georgia are now eligible to apply for grants in the following areas: urgent/emergency needs, historic structures studies and planning, periodic technical assistance and services and preservation grant. Grants will be awarded to projects designed to provide significant economic and cultural impact to the communities they serve. Grant recipients also will benefit from operations expertise and guidance through seminars, as well as strategic planning fostering professional development. BRITNEY SPEARS ANNOUNCES FINAL VEGAS DATES
Britney Spears’ Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood is coming to an end. The star announced that final 18 performances are scheduled from Sept. 3-Dec. 31 at The Axis theater. As of January 2017, her “Piece of Me” show had grossed over $100 million in ticket sales and entertained more than 700,000 Britney fans. “Being named the best show in Las Vegas, among other accolades, Britney’s residency marked a new era of entertainment as the city’s first pop music resident artist,” said David Hoenemeyer, regional president of Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. “We are delighted that Britney has called The AXIS at Planet Hollywood home for the last four years.” Tickets for the final shows go on sale April 14at BritneyPieceofMe.com.
UTA HIRES JOE ESHENBAUGH
UTA has announced the hiring of Joe Eshenbaugh as an agent in the comedy touring department. Based in Los Angeles, Eshenbaugh will continue to represent established and emerging comedians in the touring, film, television and digital media spaces. Eshenbaugh was previously at Innovative Artists as a comedy agent, where he was the driving force behind 15 one-hour stand-up specials, 10 half-hour specials and countless late-night appearances for his clientele.
