U2 HAS THE HOTTEST SELLING SUMMER TOUR
U2’s Joshua Tree tour is the top-selling U.S. tour of summer 2017, Stubhub reports. The veteran Irish musicians are outperforming Ed Sheeran, who came in at number two with more than double the amount of shows. StubHub did not release the number of tickets sold, but said that U2 outsold Sheeran by 65 percent and outsold last year’s top-seller, Adele, by 15 percent. The ticket reseller also reports that its most in-demand concert this summer is U2’s June 3 Chicago stop at Soldier Field.
BARRY MANILOW POSTPONES TOUR STOPS
Barry Manilow postponed tour stops in Los Angeles and Chicago so he can rest sprained vocal cords, the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting. The 73-year-old “Copacabana” singer was supposed to perform at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., last night and at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill., Wednesday. In a Facebook post, Manilow reps apologized for the inconvenience and assured fans their tickets will be honored when new dates are scheduled this summer.
AEG PRESENTS HIRES FETCH TO LEAD DIGITAL MEDIA EFFORTS
AEG Presents has chosen Dentsu Aegis-owned agency Fetch to lead its digital media AOR, Mediapost is reporting. Fetch will oversee digital media channels for AEG Presents tours, festivals and venues across the U.S. The agency also will develop AEG Presents’ entire digital strategy, come up with custom marketing solutions and create an entire analytics package. Creative shop Rosewood will work with Fetch in developing cross-platform advertising initiatives. AEG recently rebranded AEG Presents, the live music division of the Los Angeles-based company. The division had been formerly known as AEG Live.
