LEIWEKE’S VENUES NOW CONFERENCE SET FOR JULY
Tim Leiweke’s Oak View Group is launching its much-anticipated Venues Now conference in Los Angeles at the Beverly Hilton, July 12-14. The event will coincide with the Arena Alliance’s annual meeting and is invite-only. Leiweke launched the Oak View Group in 2015 and recently hired Ray Waddell to help program his event and lead editorial operations at Venues Today, which he purchased in December.
TICKETS.COM EXPANDS SMITHSONIAN PARTNERSHIP
The Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. has extended its partnership with Tickets.com to include the ticketer’s Registered Developer Program. Through the new program, the Smithsonian is able to display event availability to its guests in real time at its landmark Yayoi Kusama exhibit at the Hirshhorn Museum. “With lines of visitors wrapping around the Hirshhorn Museum each day, waiting to get day-of walkup passes, this API was a valuable communications tool for both the public planning their day and the museum staff managing the exhibit,” said Tammy Enright, Smithsonian Ticketing Systems Manager in a statement.
PINNACLE TO BOOK FOR LAS COLONIAS AMPHITHEATER
The city of Grand Junction, Colorado has extended its agreement with Pinnacle Venues Services. Pinnacle will now book live, ticketed entertainment for the Las Colonias Amphitheater, which is expected to open in July. Pinnacle has been managing the nearby Avalon Theatre and Two Rivers Convention Center since the beginning of the year. The Grand Junction Parks and Recreation Department will share responsibility of filling the event calendar, with focus on local community-based events.
