AZOFF’S GMR OFFERS STATIONS EXTENSIONS AMIDST RMLC BATTLE

On Monday, radio stations airing music from Irving Azoff’s Global Music Rights were offered a six-month extension from the music licensing organization. Stations currently playing music from GMR have nine-month interim deals that are set to expire in September. In an email to stations, GMR’s Randy Grimmett said GMR would be willing to “engage in direct negotiations for a longer term license,” while the organization continues to battle the Radio Music License Committee, which has filed a antitrust lawsuit against GMR. The lawsuit accuses GMR of making stations “pay prices for music performance licenses that are unfairly high and anti-competitive.”
